My name is Tara Cheston, and my pronouns are she/her. I am an 11-year veteran of DC Public Schools. Prior to becoming the Manager of Internal Engagement, I oversaw LGBTQ+ programming for DCPS, facilitating staff training, developing resources, and seeking to provide awareness opportunities for students, families, staff, and community members. I have also worked at Baltimore City Public Schools as a student engagement specialist and an after school program manager. I have experience in Australian higher education and private school program design and implementation. I am a 2022 Standing Ovation for DC Schools - Supporting Schools During a Year of Change awardee, a 2022 Capital Pride #StillWeThrive awardee, and a 2018 DC Center for the LGBT Community Youth Champion of the Year awardee.

Tara serves as Manager of Internal Engagement at DC Public Schools.
