Meredith Morelle

Meredith (she/her/hers) has spent her career working to advance racial justice through schools, and she has two decades of experience as a practitioner and a leader at the middle and secondary levels, in the non-profit sector, and in the federal policy arena. As the managing director of national programs at Kindred, Meredith supports caregivers, staff, and leaders in partnering to co-create antiracist and liberated communities. Prior to joining Kindred, Meredith served as the program director at Lead For Liberation, a leadership development organization dedicated to guiding organizations, school districts, and foundations to demystify and operationalize liberatory cultures. At the U.S. Department of Education – first as a Teaching Ambassador Fellow and then as the Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff of then-Secretary John King – she supported the agency’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, including by co-leading both the first-ever Educator Equity Lab and National Summit on Teacher Diversity. Prior to this, Meredith taught and led in schools in Prince George’s County, MD; Washington, DC; New York City; and Barcelona, Spain. Meredith earned her graduate degree in human rights studies, with a focus on racial justice, from Columbia University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism, with minors in literature and theater, from American University. Meredith hails from Rhode Island but has long considered the DC area home. She lives in Takoma Park, MD with her elementary-school-aged daughter and son and enjoys hiking, spending time with loved ones, and indulging in lots of dairy products.
